Most of my adventures start while I am sitting in my living room minding my own business, and this adventure was no different. Suddenly, the call came in. My husband Dominic who is most patient with all of my energy work realized at once something was about to happen. I heard the whales loud and clear all the way from Key Largo, FL and got a notice from Spirit and a message on Facebook from Mariam Cruz that it was time to show up in person. It was 10:30 at night, and Dominic and I had a nice Memorial Day week-end planned as the following week, I was headed to Navarre Florida for my first Bubbles of Joy weekend! Financially, I was a bit tight, so I got with my Angels and Guides and asked them that if I was to go to be with the whales, to send the funds now!
Since airfare was out of the question, I decided to drive, and at midnight, I woke Dominic up from a sound sleep and told him I was hearing the whales calling me. Sleepily he replied, “let’s talk about it tomorrow”. I hardly slept, and realized that for the past 4 days, my back had started hurting for no reason, and that in itself, I got the notion that something was really about to happen. I had no idea it was the Pilot Whales in Key Largo.
When I called my mom the next day, she told me that she decided to give my my birthday gift early, and a sum that would get me on the road. I was packed in 2 hours – everything from camping gear to wetsuit and all the materials I needed for my upcoming Bubbles of Joy Week-end. With a couple of stops to make, I was on the road. I stopped to meet with a client on the way and received another donation; this one for the trip. I knew I was on the right path doing the right thing.
At this point, I called Dominic. Cautioning me not to drive all night, I ended up staying in Tallahassee. Quite understandably, Dominic was not all the happiest, but understands. After a good nights rest, I was on my way to South Florida. The whales were now tugging for me to be there more and more. When Mariam called, and said one of the whales had to be euthanized, I knew my presence was most critical. After another good nights rest at my friend Angel in Ft. Lauderdale, I was on my way. Catching up with Mariam, I called the Marine Mammal Conservatory, and scheduled my first shift – Midnight to 4am Saturday.
As often is the case, we arrived late, and it seemed as if we would not be allowed in. But…after sending them Bubbles of Joy.and love..well, you know, all the doors opened!!!
With Orientation, and then fitting in to a wet suit purchased years ago when I was a few sizes smaller, we finally entered the pool area and noticed how dark the water was, and yet there was a spotlight illuminating the 3 whales who were still there – two teenagers and a baby in the middle. Large and heavy creatures, we were cautioned not to wave our hands so as not to be bitten. They were keeping them as quiet as possible for healing.
We went in to the pool and immediately entered a Bubbles of Joy and Love healing mode. There were 3 to 4 people in the water with each teen-age whale, and 2 people with the baby. Soon thereafter, the trainer picked my to be with the baby. Gently and quietly, I was placed on the left side of the baby, and my hand replaced the other persons hand on the dorsal fin and one on her pectoral fin. We had been taught how to count breath and heartbeats, and was delightfully amazed when our breathing and heartbeat synchronized!!!
The teen-agers, although still in critical condition, had improved a bit, yet the baby was still guarded. Although she had bonded with one of the teenagers, it had not bonded with her, and we knew she would not be released back in to the wild. Upset with that decision, I was suddenly stunned when I heard her loudly and clearly declare “my name is Sasha, and I like people now”. I asked her about her knowledge of Sea World, and she knew nothing about it and asked me to describe it to her. I sent her pictures and what my experience of Seaworld was and she started purring and squeaking in delight. “I want to be there! There are lots of people there!” I felt so much better after our conversation and all the trainers commented about how excited all 3 whales were before we got there and how they had calmed down about the time the supervisor allowed us to participate. We made whale sounds softly for about 4 hours and when it came time to let her go, my hand and arm was almost frozen in position. I did not get cold until I left the water. There was food and warm showers for all the volunteers there. I went ahead and signed up for the next morning from 12 to 4.
After hot showers, we headed home. I slept in Mariam’s roommates room and immediately saw all the star language that she had written in her art work. This was a woman that I wanted and could not wait to meet! I found out that Marium had created the Naked Bike Ride in protest fo the oil spill in my honor for the work we were doing up in Gulf shores with the oil spill and the dolphins. I remembered that, but not that she had done it. It was such a busy time up in Gulf Shores/ Navarre that I missed alotof things that were going on around and in support of my efforts.
The next night I went back alone and was with the most ill of the 3. I started healings at the tail that has been cramped for many days due to the confinement. I realized then why my back and tailbone had been hurting for days. Sending much healing energy her way, she calmed down immediately! After a break, I was placed at her left pectoral fin to relieve someone and then to the third whale on the other side. After that, things ran together for the next 2 days. I got to spend at least 3 hours with each one. I sang and hummed softly to each one and sent lots of healing energy to each. They went from critical to very hopeful in 4 days! I got to meet Mariam’s roommate and each one said I changed their lives in these few days I was with them. I even got to sleep on a magnetized mat for a couple of days and that really helped my back.
I am so grateful to them both for allowing me to camp out at their home and assist in the efforts to bring the Pilot Whales back to health. I gave and received lots of energies from these presious whales, and that is priceless! I now have Pilot Whale Guides named Paula and Pete. They told me they are there to smooth my way in my future
adventures.
An overnight with Rosemary on her sailboat, I was on to the next part of this adventure.
Part 2 to follow…..
